Even more baked typefaces

I’ve been doing more baked typefaces with a view to eventually making a book. I think. The idea was originally to do an A-Z but I definitely won’t have the time, so I don’t really know where it’s going yet.

  3. OK…as someone who LOVES writing (I am a freelance writer by passion and profession), I just have to say: Coolest. Idea. Ever!

I know there may be a thin line between writing and font styles, but anything that can make words look cool is awesome in my book. What a fun, creative idea!

  4. I say go for the book, this is an awesome idea…!

  5. Fantastic. That’s the first time I’ve ever thought Comic Sans to be a good idea!

  19. Baking and Typography? Two of my favorite things!

  20. When I saw the documentary “Helvetica,” I was in awe of the fact that there was a whole community of people who cared deeply and passionately about a font. This is right up there:) So fun!

  21. ah ah! What a coincidence! I just had issues today with a file using Gill Sans font. Other than that: what a cool project :)

  22. I love fonts! Great idea. I’ve been collecting letter and word cookie cutters and have used them to cut ceramic slabs (while wet – pre-fire) for fun effects.
Making my own font patterns would be fun. Thanks for sharing the idea.

  23. When I was a graphic designer, I was always looking for a way to sneak humor into anything I did. What a delight to have come across your work. Fresh, well-designed, joyful, funny, witty! I’d hire you in a second.

  24. Love it, very creative and I found your post on the home page of WordPress.com site!

  25. You should bake Helvetica Neue Ultra Light Extended Oblique!
    Ah only kidding… Great post!

  26. I would totally buy this book.

  27. Comic Sans was my favorite I think! Keep up with this ( even if you don’t get to every font)! There can never be enough funky projects in the world :)

  28. LOVE IT!

  29. I’ve never seen Comic Sans look so enticing and delicious!

  30. Very creative and I am impressed. Congrats on being Freshly Pressed! Could you visit my blog: goldenfingers. My latest article titled: The man I love; Happy Valentine’s Day!! Very intriguing article.

  31. Very cool. I’m thinking about ransom notes, marriage proposals, to-do lists, all sorts of interesting writing one could do with these letters.

  32. Fun idea. You could bake some fonts of your own and create a baked font for use on a computer.

    Very creative.

  33. What a creative idea! Just think of the new fonts you can create in the kitchen…then I think you are able to name them too!

  34. Shoot…I’m jealous I didn’t have this idea myself! I love it! Have you done Helvetica? Then you could munch on the font while watching the documentary.

  35. Innovative, fun…what a joy!

Gill Sans looks particularly appealing right now with a nice cup of tea :)

  56. That is a very cool idea. How did you get the letters so perfect? Did you use a mold or something? I like the rainbow on Comic Sans.

    P.S. I have a blog about books http://mehana11.wordpress.com/

    • Thank you Mehana. I print out the letters, cut them out and then use them as a template to cut out the rolled dough before it goes in the oven.

  57. Fun (delicious) idea!

  58. that’s brilliant. i don’t wear a hat, but my hat is off to your creativity.

if possible, set “comic sans” on fire. i hate that font. i have a supervisor at work who sends out extremely serious and important e-mails – like the kind when you’re threatening to fire someone – and she types in comic sans. it’s just so stupid. i heard that the guy who created it is very sorry that he did.

  59. These are great! As a Graphic Designer, fonts are an integral part of my work, and I just love them. This put a whole new spin on them. Do more!!

  60. I love this post! Each letter looks very edable and yummy!
This is some good creative type and I can see many designers going out to buy a book full of wonderful treats like this if you sold one. Keep going I say!

I love the backgrounds you set for the font. You are also pretty adept at getting the font to look like those fonts we are all accustomed to. Kudos. Mega Applause from me!
